Flatspin: Websites that work.

Design

After discussions with the client, we first produce a "flat" design template for their approval.  This will form the crucial base from which web pages can be created.

The next move is to incorporate movement into the website.  We at Flatspin like to combine powerful online applications and beautifully fluid designs.

"Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works."
Steve Jobs

The culmination of this design phase is a series of graphical blueprints of the site. Feedback from the client is extremely important at this stage and we won't proceed with page development until everyone is completely satisfied with the "look and feel" of the new site.

Development

Development refers to the process of taking the flat web design and transforming it into a series of structured web pages. This a real techy process,  involving the generation of script in ASP, HTML, DHMTL, Javascript, Flash and other components, which brings the page to life and creates a living document out in cyberspace.

We develop these pages on a test server at our office, and periodically update them to a website downstream of our own site, or behind a secure-access password. This allows the client to get a constant feel of what the final product will look like, enabling them to provide valuable input before the doors of the website are thrown open to the general public.

Database Development

One of our specialities is to develop websites that interact with databases. Such websites produce an infinite number of possibilities on their pages, depending on the size of the database and the degree of user interaction involved. We are adept at creating databases or modifying existing databases to fit websites, using Microsoft Access, SQL and mySQL.

Once information is defined within the database, it becomes easy for our clients to manipulate their web pages via the Site Management Interface (SMI).

Another great advantage of a database-driven website is that it is easily searchable via any number of different search parameters.

Maintenance and Support

Once initial development of a website is complete, it is vital to keep the site well maintained and up-to-date with the latest web technologies.

For this reason, we generally recommend an ongoing maintenance contract with our clients. This monthly maintenance agreement is optional and can be negotiated separately.
